That is my last post for 2016.

Here is my last William Pike Challenge, we hiked up Bridle Path and built a raft with tubes and rope at Corsair Bay.

Here my 100CW

The earth was dark and stormy unlike ever before; and thick smoke covered the the surface. It was so chilly as the smoke cleared. One day, the world froze. Many of the people, even animals was so weak, cold and miserable. Few day later, scientists found out why the world is frozen. It was because the sun was covered, and moon was making lots of snow! The next day, the snow was gone but it was warm and raining. Suddenly, the sun was uncovered, and the world is warm and nice and will never change again! What a beautiful world!

Winter Fun Day!!

Two week ago on Friday, we went to Mt Hutt to go skiing for Winter Fun Day and it was so amazing and fun!

That was my 5th time go to skiing!

Digi Award - Be the change

     This year’s Digi Award theme is “Be The Change.“ Our topic was bullying because I think bullying should be stopped!

My group this year was Base, Gus, Emily, Katie Paige. For our category we picked movie making; and our expectation was:

~ Make sure the movie can make a change.

~ No more than 3 minutes.

~ Amazing camera work, editing, background music.

We took about 2 weeks to finish this movie, so I hope you enjoy!

A few weeks ago, Rimu class started doing a Novel Study.
I picked the story Auggie and Me and the story was really interesting.
Because Auggie was born with a facial disfigurement which made him look different. I enjoyed doing this Novel Study, especially making a board game! I found it difficult to explain two conflicts within my novel. Enjoy!

  

Speech: Why We Should Play Sport

The past few weeks, all school students doing speech and My speech was why we should play sport? It is persuasive writing. I was working on creating and expressing a persuasive idea clearly using NZSL. I found it challenging to sign slow enough so Mrs Royfee could keep up.

Here's My Poem 

I feel warm sand and cold water on my feet.

I taste salt water  in my mouth when a  huge wave pushes me over.

I see dogs run around on the beach.

I touch sand and water.

I smell the sea water when i am in the water.

I saw in the distance a bright yellow thing and I kept walking towards it until I was close. I saw a dark black bamboo thing that I had never seen before and I really wanted to touch the bamboo. I touched the bamboo and it was really smooth, warm and soft.

A Few hours later, I heard something rustle and I saw a bright yellow human. I walked closer until I was next to the bright yellow human.

“Hello” I said.

“Don’t move girl!” The bright yellow human said.

The bright yellow human turned me into a tiny yellow fairy and I saw millions of yellow fairies.

100 Word Challenge

Here my 100WC and I wrote about an Airplane and I have used five in that story! This week I was trying to make my 100WC more interesting by using bigger and better words. 

I walked on the beautiful and rich gold AIRPPLANE. I sat on the soft and comfortable YELLOW seat and I could smell yummy food so I pressed the red button for Food! 

The Cabin Crew speedily walked to me and the Cabin Crew asked me what do I want! I want five pink cookies and five tiny VIOLIN cakes. When I had EATEN the five pink cookies and five tiny violin cakes, I had made a mess so I pressed the purple button for a clean up! The woman speedily walked to me and SWEPT up. 'Thank you' I said.

A lonely man was reading a book when suddenly a man like a statue came. I wondered if it was a shine man . Suddenly, the shine man just moved like a slowly turtle to sit next to an old man. “How you move and I thought you was freeze” said old man. A shine man said “what book are you reading?” A old man said “oh that is just workbook!” Then a shine man just freeze again. The old man said “hello, chocolate man?” In a minute, He just jumped and scared the old man and everyone just ron away!

The Amazing Race Facts

This term we are doing an Amazing Race challenge. We have to read 30 books and move around countries. As we move around we need to put 1 fact about the country on a Padlet, so far I have read 1 book. We also have a google doc that we put the title of the book and write a short blurb about it. At the moment I am reading Wonder and it is an interesting book!

My horse saddle design!

For one of my reading activities I had to create a Pic Collage on the iPad.

I had to design a special saddle for first time horse riders that would make them feel really safe. I also had to label your drawings or write descriptions to explain your interesting ideas. I like to do it because it is easy and fast.

Dear Mama and Papa,

Today is my first day at war. Terrible things are happening here. People are hungry and there is not much food to eat, as we have to share it with many others. My job is to be on watch and Periscope.

Bad luck, when I took my first step in on trenches I got cuts in my leg and arm by a tree and I was bleeding a lot then the nurse speeding walk is arrive to me and Good luck, I didn’t die but it’s really hurt.

One peaceful morning, I was walking to the supermarket then when I got back from supermarket I walked up the wrong stairway and it feel like I took an hour to get to the top. I just think in my head myself "Should I go back down or up?" So I just keep walking up! One and half hours later I finally arrive at the top and I saw a girl sitting on a gold bench and I ask her if she was okay and she said "Yep I okay. So we just talked, her name is Sofia and my name is Zara.  Now we are best friend!

“Hanmer Spring”

On the 24th of April, Tracey, Billie, Lucy and I went to Hanmer Springs for one night. When we arrived at Hanmer Spring we went looking for house to stay. We just unpack in the house then Lucy and I just did fun gymnastic! When it was 40 minutes later, we went for a hike and we have food to eat on the top the hill! Then we walked back and I saw Shukoor and Parwin. We just walked to the house. Lucy was feeling sick and Billie had a sore back from falling on the floor. We went to sleep at about 9:30pm.

The next day, we went to Hanmer Springs swimming pool at about 9:00am then we had to wait till 10:00am for the swimming pool to open!  First thing I did was go to the kids swimming pool thing then Lucy and I went on the Superbowl. We got a figure 8 tube to hold  and when we are at the top the water wouldn’t go so we had to walk down then we went to the 30 degree pool. We stayed at the pools for 4 hours.

Later on we all drove back to Christchurch. I was dropped off at Dad’s home. I enjoyed Hanmer Springs.

In Rimu class, we have been making iMovies about 10 Top Way of Caring for your Chromebook. We have been learing about this as school have purchased Chromebook for students. We need to look after these because if we don't look after the chromebooks then they will be damged .

I am profoundly Deaf and use NZSL communicate. I would like to show others sign that will help communicate with other deaf people. At my school we do Sign of the Week and share it in assembly each week.

2 or 3 weeks ago, Rimu made very yummy food for Meet the teacher with William Pike and Parents.

William Pike has a really cool story about his life! I was really looking forward to the surfing and I loved it. I think I might take up swimming and gym tumbling.

First Person Point of View

Last week, our writing task was to write a short essay about the book "Wonder". We had to find 2-3 examples about 1st person.

This story is written in the first person because at the start of the story when August is introducing himself he says,

“I know I’m not an ordinary ten-year-old kid.”

Firstly, Palacio uses first person point of the view in the chapter ’Christopher’s House’. For example, 

”I was really bummed when Christopher moved away three years ago.”

This story is written in the first person because at the start of the story when August is introducing himself he says,

“I know I’m not an ordinary ten-year-old kid.”

Furthermore, we can see how first person has been used in when Mum is telling the story about how I was born. For example,

“I like when Mom tells this story because it make me laugh so much.”

So ‘Wonder’ is written in the first person point of view.

MihiMihi

In the first two week of school, Rimu class learnt how to make mihi and to sign.

This is our introduction to our class and community.

1. A self portrait or a photo
2. Places of significance to us
3. Symbols or pictures that represent our culture

That was so long to make mihi and it little hard to make mihi and it took one week!
